Bartering in Grade 3.
In Grade 3 we have been learning about a market as a system of exchange. We know that when we exchange without using money it is called barter. We practiced in class using paper and then we tried it with a toy. Most of us were able to barter for something new. We had lots of fun.

G3 Sports Day
We had an amazing time at our G3 sports day. We showed enthusiasm, commitment and integrity. We loved taking part in all the games and activities. We loved playing hand ball and we were the best class at the parachute. We can't wait to compete again in G4.
Weather Instruments
As part of our How the World Works Unit we wear learning all about the weather. We created our own weather instruments including anemometers and rain gauges. We took our anemometers outside to measure the wind. There isn't much rain in the UAE so we will keep our rain gauges at home for when it does. We also played a fun game were we had to guide a classmate using a compass. They were blindfolded so it was really tricky. Ask us how we remember the points of a compass?
Researchers at Work
We used books and the internet to try and find out as much as we could about the weather. We learned how to measure weather data and share it. We also found out during our research ways that the weather can impact people. We really appreciate how in the UAE we have no tornados. They look cool but are very dangerous. When we had completed our research we presented it in two ways. We gave an oral report to the class. We also created a non-fiction weather book. We are only in G3 and we have already been meteorologists and authors.
Finding Out
We started our new unit by working together to think of all the things that we already knew about weather and seasons. Then we tried to generate lots of questions to help guide our inquiry. We are lucky to have people from all around the world in our class as they could tell us about different types of weather. We know that in Scotland it always rains and that it why Mr. Steven likes to live in the UAE.
Awesome Attitudes
We tried to connect our unit about advertising to what we knew about attitudes. We each choose the attitude we thought we did the best job of showing in school. We tried to make an advertisement to influence other people to try and show the same attitude. Ask us our opinion?
Fact and Opinion
When we were learning about advertising and economics we learned that important concepts are opinion and fact. We know that advertising is usually based on opinion. We know that we might all have different opinions but that we must be open minded and show each other respect.
Read to Someone
As part of our daily literacy focus we have started to read to each other. We have to choose somewhere to sit, we have to take turns reading, we have to listen, we have to concentrate and then we have to talk about the book. Ask us what we do if we cant decide what book to choose?
Rights and Responsibilities
We have been learning about our rights and responsibilities. Abdelaziz did such a good job fulfilling his responsibilities in PE that he won an award. Great job!
Our Rights
We worked together in groups to try and decide what our most important rights were. We then presented to the class and tried to explain our choices. Why don't you ask us at home?
Back to School Night
Thank you to everyone who came to our Back to School Night. The children enjoyed showing the parents around the class and letting them know the important information for Grade 3.
Communication.
We know that there are lots of different ways to communicate. Before we write or draw our news we always spend time talking and listening to a partner. We know that types of communication are connected and that this helps to make our writing better. If we have writing or reading to do at home it is important to talk and listen about it first.
In the Library.
We know that the library is an important resource to help us learn new things. We know that we learn to read and that we also read to learn. We try and tidy the library as we go. It's important that we return our book each week so that we can get a new one. Ask us what a happy book would look like?
Welcome to Grade 3.
We are so excited to have started Grade 3. We know that we are going to learn a lot as long as we work hard and try our best.
